These last two "last nights" in Maryland have been sleepless for me. Jeremy seems to think it is because I am afraid he is going to oversleep. While he says it is tempting to stay in bed, I do believe it is the dread of going back to work and the real world after being far away!
I took the shuttle to the airport and was there in plenty of time. Finally, we began to board. There were less than 45 people on my flight. Really. And there were at least two people that tried to board the wrong plane, not counting the guy who's dad pulled him out of our line to go get in the right one! Geez, people, pay attention! I promise, it is typed right there on your boarding pass!
I am deep in my Amish book when we reached the elevation where you can take off your seatbelt. And then I hear "I don't know what you like to drink, but you can have one of my drink coupons."
Wait.
Who are you? There is no white shirt, no airplane pins...
No!
Are you kidding me?
The guy in front of me has gotten up, come to MY row and is hitting on my with a drink coupon. Seriously?
Now, I am basically sitting right on top of the wing, so there is lots of noise. And he continues to talk. I really don't know much of what he said other than he flies a lot. (Obviously, if he can pass out drink coupons.)
Oh, well, it was painless, and I didn't really even have to listen to him.
I watched out my window a lot on this flight. There was a good deal of turbulence off and on. Pretty amazing if you think about it. It reminded me of that song "I am Yours" where it says "like a wave tossed in the ocean"; except it was a plane tossed in the wind. One minute you look out and can see absolutely nothing, another you can see the ground and all of the man-made things - parks, houses, cars, etc. The best part, though, is witnessing the clouds from that high. My view today reminded me of a chocolate meringue pie. The clouds just seemed to be created in perfect lines that reminded me of meringue, continuous lines of meringue. Wouldn't that be heavenly? Especially, if there was lots of chocolate pie underneath!
