Major started school on Monday. A new chapter for my sweet little boy. As all second children, he has been following in his sister's footsteps. Everyone at their previous school knew Ella Grace
and were excited when Major came through their class. The cook adored my precious boy (gave him a going away gift, still sends him pictures and letters!).
Monday marked a special chapter for him. He started a school where she had not gone before. I am so excited for him and for this school year.
He has been thrilled for school to start. We/I had to change him from a full-day site to a half-day site when I decided not to go back to work. Then, I realized and began to worry about the distance and time between their schools (about 15 minutes, but in 3:00 traffic what would that turn in to?!? yikes!). Luckily, I was able to get him in to our church's VPK, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm four days a week. I was SO excited when I received that email!!
Sunday, I asked Major if he wanted to wear his tree house shirt and his camo shorts and he agreed that would be his first day outfit. So, the next morning when I went to get it out of his closet and he decided he didn't want to wear it because "I don't want all the boys to follow me around!" ha! This kid is hilarious. In case you haven't seen this shirt it says:
Tree house rules:
- All members must eat a worm
- No girls allowed.
- Tell no one the password
And it was a gift to Major from my sweet Mee Maw, and his FAVORITE shirt!
So, we went with his Mickey shirt. And he did great his first day. I took him in, we walked to his door, I gave him a kiss, he wanted a hug and then a second kiss and off he went. He was such a big boy and I was surprised, I will admit, that he had no tears...yes, I cried. It's my baby!!
I joined the other parents in the worship center for a meeting and off I went. By myself.
He had a great day and was ready to go back on Tuesday morning. After we dropped Ella Grace off he kept saying "I want to be at school now. We are going on the playground." Ella Grace has to be at school by 8:35. So, we had her there about 8:15 and made it to Major's school by 8:25. Then, we waited for about 20 minutes before we could get in the car line, and then waited about 10-15 minutes before they began to receive the kids. During all of this waiting Major changed his mind. He didn't want to go to school, but wanted to stay with me all day! They took him, however, with tears and a struggle. I felt terrible, but going in with him would have just prolonged it all. About 10:15 I got a call from the director and she assured me that he was fine and fully participating. Amen!! And he seemed to have had another great day.
Today, I walked him in again. We got there about the same time, so we walked up/down the stairs a little and I waited with him inside before he could go to his class. He gave me a hug and kiss and no tears! Yea, Major!!

Major:
I pray this school year brings lots of new experiences for YOU! That you become confident in what you can do, that you grow in your independence, come out of that shyness you have, and make lots of new friends. I know you will be great this year. You are such a little man (despite how bad I want you to stay my baby forever!) and I love watching you in this new environment and when you have opportunities to say and do what you want!
I love you, Sweet Boy!!
