Road trip Part VIII - and DONE!

On Thursday, Jeremy and his dad went on a fishing trip with two Charles' - one a family friend, and the other his uncle. While they were gone Grandmother and I took the kids out and about. We tried a local park, but it the kids decided it wasn't much fun. There was a so-called splash pad and the water was just running into the playground area, making it very messy. So, we tried another park and this one was a hit.

Here, Ella Grace and Major were making pizzas.

Also while we were out we had lunch at CFA, went to a fabric store and looked for school shoes for Major.

The men made it home before we did, but we did make it in time to see the end of fish cleaning.

We were back at Pop & Nana's that night. Ella Grace was begging Nana to make s'mores, so they did get that done!

Great-Grandmother made Ella Grace a special treat for her feet!
On Friday, Jeremy & Dad went diving early. That afternoon/evening we attempted a cook-out at the lake. It poured earlier in the afternoon, causing us to all go inside the camper. I ran out to pick up my nephew Deven. Lo-Lo came around 5:00, along with Janie, Jon and Jackson, and Mom & Dad. All turned out well, and we had a great time with most of our family.

Ella Grace was attempting to touch her nose with her tongue - it may or may not run in the family.

Saturday we were back at the lake with Grandmother & Grandaddy. Ella Grace was all about riding the tube.

And I think jumping off of it was one of her favorite parts. During many of her rides she would let go, for no reason. When asked about it she would reply "I just let go for fun."

This was me with her...apparently we hit a pretty big wave!
Sunday we left pretty early. On the way we were able to stop in south Alabama to see Uncle David, Aunt Laura, Austin and Caroline for breakfast before they went to church (and while Uncle David was working). It definitely was a short visit, but we were just happy we were able to coordinate for that little piece of time together.

After being gone for such a long trip it was great to get back home and in our own beds. We had company coming soon ourselves and lots to do before getting started with a new school year!

Roadtrip Part V

Saturday morning was another adventure! We had a slow morning, and even got to spend time with Uncle Curt.

Curt asked Major to join him mowing the grass. Major did for a bit, but got off and said it was too loud! Boy has always had sensitive ears!

Ella Grace and Major both had a great time playing with Oliver the cat. Ella Grace tried to get him to ride the treadmill with her - it didn't turn out too well!
We played Mexican train dominoes.
Uncle Curt even taught Major some lessons -
Then, it was back to Oliver...poor cat!

For lunch we hit our favorite -

Afterwards we went back to the park for some playtime.

Lo-Lo even gave Major an early birthday present.

Back to annoying Oliver when we got home...
and then a big surprise from Lo-Lo (and I can't even begin to tell you how much they have gotten in trouble with these things! I appreciate it, Sis!)

Then, it was time to say good-bye. That's never fun.

But, my little superheros fell asleep on the way back to north Alabama, with masks on. hilarious!

And, finally! Our second to last tooth from "the tooth accident" finally decided to give up. It had been loose and tightened back up a few times. I pulled this one. And I vow this would be the last. I just can't handle that. I was so happy that it was out! And, yes, her other tooth was already coming in!

Mississippi girl (and boy!)

This weekend, the kiddos and I got to spend a couple of nights with my sister in Mississippi. Even on the way up, Ella Grace said how she wished we could stay with Aunt Lo-Lo (as in live with her). She reiterated it a couple of times throughout the weekend! I'm not so sure how my crew of four could live with Lori, in her extra bedroom, with one bathroom...especially with that extra fiber Lori fed Major over the weekend! ha!

Lori entertained the kids to no end! They had fun in the bathtub, playing like there was water in it, and swimming.

And we went to my favorite little place to eat there, Borrum's. A little old pharmacy that has a grill and makes some WONDERFUL milkshakes!!
Playing around while waiting on our milkshakes!
Yum-o!
And Ella Grace had to sit in the laundry basket while she played with Aunt Lori's phone!
Then, we visited the the kids' all-time favorite - a little pizza place with jumpy things for the kids. Ella Grace begged and begged to go to this place. I continued to tell her to stop asking me. My favorite line of the weekend was when Ella Grace said "Momma, I really don't want to say this, but please can we go?" Bless her sweet self, she really tried!
We had such a great time with Aunt Lori. After church, we even got to see Uncle Curt for a bit before we headed back across the state line!

Love you guys!

Travelin' Times #3

I told you we have been on the road!

This particular weekend (September 24), the kids and I drove to my sister's house in Northeast Mississippi. I was lucky to get off work just a little early and we hit the road quickly! The kids were awesome! I most definitely was worried about being in the car with them for several hours - how soon would they have to potty, get hungry, start arguing, etc, etc, etc? It never happened! I packed a few snacks an they never argued, they never asked to stop - it was purely amazing! I hope they will always do that well (*wink*, *wink*)!

While at Aunt Lo-Lo's and Uncle Curt's, we went to a park, we had lunch at an old pharmacy/soda fountain, visited a fun little place with lots of bouncy things. When the kids went down for a nap (finally) on Saturday afternoon Lori and I got to watch the game...well, except for the quarter or two where we fell asleep! ha! We were exhausted, too! Here are some pictures from our adventures in Mississippi!

So, my kids are terrified of dogs...Lori has one inside doggie and two outside. Baxter spent the weekend away and Doreen and Rufus (yes, they have chosen to give their dogs "old" people names) were still there, hanging around outside. Ella Grace and Major LOVE looking at them and getting close, but this is how they were each time they wanted to see the dogs. Poor Lori!

Air-born!

The kids call my dad "Pop" so I thought this was funny!
Fun on the bouncy things.
