Playdate, We Got Booed & Unwanted Company

Wow - can you get any more random!?

To begin, Ella Grace had a little friend over today. I'm not sure I was ready for this. Her friend Megan from school came over to play for a few hours & they were so much alike. I really had not been around Megan other than one evening program they had at school. Two loud, strong-willed, leaders, if you will. They had such a great time and enjoyed each others company. Play-doh, Lite Brites, bicycle rides, dress up...these girls had some fun. Oh, and they kept saying "Seriously?" and "Are you kidding me?" I felt like they were teenagers already! yikes!

This evening as the kids and I were getting ready for bed (they were finishing a snack and I was taking my make up off) our door bell rang. Yes, my first thought was "Geez, who is coming over this late?" (It was only about 7:30.) We got booed! We did this in our neighborhood in Northport, and I had seen the ghosts in some houses around but the kids had no idea. I tried to explain it multiple times, they asked if there were really ghosts, etc. They even went outside and said "Thank you!" loudly a couple times each! ha! So funny! So, we shall see how our turn goes tomorrow evening.

And last, unwanted company!

I was heading to the laundry room tonight. I washed my sheets this morning and was just going to make the bed up with the same ones. Out I go from our room, through the dining room and almost to the laundry room (it is really a straight shot) and I thought I saw something fall from the table to the floor. Well, I wasn't running so nothing could have really blown off the table. I turned the light on, started looking...no paper...no napkins...AAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH!

My first step was to grab an ice cream container and butter dish and stare the darn thing down. Then, I couldn't stand him looking at me and if I recall correctly I even told him that. Then, I called Jeremy (who wasn't home and didn't answer either!) and next I took the picture. I tried to catch him, really I did. With chicken skin all over me and these two dishes, I tried. But, then he jumped. And I tried again, but he jumped (or started flying which is really what it seemed more like to me). I debated on calling a neighbor. I did look out to see who had lights on still.

And I gave in. I called my neighbor Beth and between the two of us, we caught him. Only after he jumped from the leg of a chair back to the hutch (this green piece you see in the picture), under the table, beside a column, to the other side of the column and clear across the room under the couch almost to the wall. When we moved the couch he clung to the wall and back under the couch again! Then, I told Beth I thought I could (yes, I WAS the Little Engine) get my dish on top of him and I DID IT! Yes, ma'am! But it was Beth that slid a magazine under the dish and carried him back outside.

I can't handle things like that. I was "glad" it was a frog rather than a lizard which is not uncommon here...if you can be "glad" something is in your house, that is.

Playdate

Tuesday we went on a little playdate with some ladies from the MOPS program I visited during March. There is a little indoor "playlounge" here they we went to. Someone had some 1/2 price admission coupons which made it all the sweeter - 5 bucks a kid, and I was in a need of a break!

I really didn't think there was much to it, and I don't think I would pay full price admission, but they really seemed to have a great time there. The rule was that adults and children had to wear socks at all times (except if the kids got in the little sandbox area). So here are a few pictures:
