my little accident

As my husband said, Major and I have a problem walking. Neither one of us can stand on our feet.

Well, this proved true Tuesday morning. I decided to go for a little run. Ella Grace was riding her bike, Major rode his in the neighborhood and then parked it to "run" as we left. They decided to swap, she was going to run and he was going to ride her bike. Of course, problems followed that. I was ahead of them a little and when I approached, Major was holding his arms up for me to hold him - he was hot (because it is super hot here) and tired already (I knew it was comin'!). I hoisted him up and was trying to maintain something a little bit quicker than a walk, then....wham!

I stepped off the side of the sidewalk and down.we.went.

I was able to keep his head from knockin' the cement. I wasn't quite sure how bad I was hurt, but I was in some pain. My left hand was scuffed up some, my right elbow scraped and my right knee, well, it's bad. I managed to get up and the three of us s-l-o-w-l-y made our way home. I had to ban the kids from my bathroom while I tried to see what was what.

~Warning~ pictures follow....

After we walked home -

I got my right leg across the tub and began to clean it up, poor some peroxide on it when I started to get super hot and thought I was going to pass out. (Jeremy has also said that I have a low pain tolerance! ha!) I splashed a little water on my neck and hurriedly made it to the door to ask Ella Grace to bring me some water, then I laid down on my bed. My little nurse delivered. She is super - she thought at first she was going to poor the peroxide and bandage me up!

After it was cleaned up -
Sleep Tuesday night was very sporadic. Walking Wednesday was still been painful. And Major reminded me when I was holding him earlier that I did need to put him down because "remember what happened when you held me!"

NOT again?!?

I am learning very quickly who my accident prone child is. Yes, I am speaking of the precious, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, steal-my-heart-in-an-instant, (tantrum-throwing), (one of the) love of my life. Major.
If you recall, at one and a half he broke his leg. Playing inside. Ring-around-the-rosie to be exact. No kidding.
Sunday night (at church), my sweet boy made a mistake, along with his sweet sister, of sitting on the table. Ella Grace (little momma!) said she told him not to scoot back. Of course, he didn't listen and off the back of the table he goes.
Our children's minister found me in my small group class and I found my little man in the kitchen with a cloth to his noggin. He & I tried to go to medcenter, but they were closed. So, we went to a local hospital (the same one he was born at to be exact!). We even got to go in the ER entrance (just like when he was born!). Our children's minister brought Ella Grace down from church and stayed with us, for the entire 2.5 hours.
My sweet, sweet friend Laurie came and got Ella Grace, took her back to her house for some pizza and playtime with her friends Ellie and Sadie Kate. Major and I were called back and finally saw a doctor. Dr. S was really kind and washed the cut off some.

This was taken in the car with some bad lighting.

When he said staples I SO thought he was kidding. It was all I could do to hold back a little laughter. He was so very serious, though.

The staple gun
All cleaned up
They wrapped him in a sheet like a burrito, layed him on the table and after a little local, Major received three staples in his little noggin. Boy, he cried, and my heart broke. I just prayed "Lord, you know I wish I could take this pain away from my little man. Please make this an easy period while the staples are in." When all was done, I picked him up and he was just a little trooper. I asked him what kind of treat he wanted - when you go through all of that you need a treat, regardless of what time it was! We decided on some ice cream!

Shows up really well in that blonde hair!

I called Laurie and met her and her husband Mark in their driveway and got my little princess. We headed home, but only after we closed down McDonald's. Never done that before. We took our ice cream home and then off to bed. It was about 11:30 at this point. After I got them both in bed, Major started with the most pitiful little cry "I don't want staples in my noggin." And then Sister (as he is calling Ella Grace these days) joined in "I don't want staples in Major's head." Oh!

Little Major has done great! I just knew he would be pulling at it and talking about it, but not the first word when he woke up yesterday morning. I gave him Tylenol before I dropped him off at school - no calls, no complaints. We go back in two weeks to have them removed. Major will see his regular doctor, though, to get this done.

I guess we can say we've had staples now...
