Cootie shots and a bad dream

Ella Grace had her five year check up yesterday. Bless her heart, she is almost to the 50th percentile in height and weight. Dr. B thinks she may get taller than me, still! I let him break the news to her about shots yesterday. He began by asking if she knew what else was at school other than girls.
Ella Grace: a playground.
Dr. B: yes, there is a playground. But do you know what else? Boys. And boys have a disease - it's called cooties. Boys like to get buzz cuts, and wear holes in their jeans, and dirty socks and shoes and they smell. And you don't want their cooties.
(Ella Grace was getting a big kick out of this.)
Dr. B: We are going to give you some medicine to keep their cooties off of you. There is one for the blonde-headed boys, one for the red-headed boys and one for the dark headed boys. And if their cooties try to jump on you while you are trying to pay attention in class, they will bounce off of your invisible shield and blow-up and bounce away!
Then, Dr. B mentioned the "s" word. Ms. Debbie and Ms. Tina had to pry Ella Grace off of me, but she did a great job getting her shots.

Later at Chick-fil-a a mom came out of the play place to tell me Ella Grace said her arms hurt because of the shots, but her invisible shield is going to keep the boy cooties off.

And I'm good with that!

Then, last night Major had a bad dream. When I heard him literally yelling at me from his room, I rushed in there. He asked me to turn on the light, but I assured him it would wake his sister. Then, he kept saying there was a girl, a girl! I could tell at this point he was scared about something. He jumped in my arms and started pointing with a very stiff arm at a "ghost". I finally turned on the light to show him there was nothing there. He was reluctant to lay back down, but finally did. I sure hope he won't have more bad dreams, poor little guy.

A Sick Little Boy

Friday morning Major had a routine allergy appointment. He was such a bal of energy there, which is such a change from when we started going about a year ago. He and I were looking at a book when the nurse called his name - "Major Jordan". His reply, just as if we were at home was "What?". He stood on the scale all by himself (weighing in at a whopping 29 pounds), and then off to the room!
He sat on the little foot stool and offered "Somebody can sit by me." Then, the fun began! Major realized he could jump off of the stool. Up and down, up and down. He had the most fun. Of course, he was holding my hand as he stepped up and jumped off.

Major showed the nurse how he uses his inhaler, and told her "I have one of those at home!" Then, after the nurse left we waited on the doctor. Major was wearing a pair of comfy pants (not sweatpants, but similar). He pulled the little strings on the outside and asked "Momma, are these my tails?"

"No, Major, these are not your tails."

Then, we jumped some more.

Then he got tired, and rested for a bit.

He was excited to see the doctor. Major told him he had asked Santa for "presents" for Christmas and willingly let the doctor look in his ears and mouth! Yea for change!
Of course, Major was just perfect while we were at the allergy and asthma doctor. But, on the way to Granny's on Saturday Major wasn't okay. Poor little man got sick in the car. He bounced right back, though, and was fine all day long. But, it struck him again Saturday night. So, Daddy will be taking Major to the doctor this afternoon. We are thankful Dr. B is able to see him this afternoon, and thankful, too, that this happened sooner (while we are still in town), rather than later. I really do not like the kids having to go to a doctor while we are out of town.
