Resolution or not?

I think I did pretty good on my resolutions last year. However, once the craziness of our relocation began I did slack off. The move is my excuse, and I think it was a good one.

I read somewhere, and have decided to try, rather than saying "I'm committing to this or that" I will commit to a word - like love, or serve.

After thinking about it for several days, I have decided on the word

GrOw
I want to grow in my relationship with the Lord more this year. I want to do more things with my husband and kids. And of course, I want to grow new friendships in our new home, but also continue to grow the ones I already have. I love my friends here and that's hard to separate from.

So, let's see if I can make this year one of growth!

New Year's Resolutions...update

So, I wanted to do a post on how I am progressing on my New Year's Resolutions. I had 5 this year, and here's the break down.

  1. Read more. Score! I am doing really good at this. I was aiming for a book a month, which I think is a "super" lot. So far I have read six and have a good start on my seventh. If I can finish this one and pick up another I think I am well on my way! Yea!

This Beverly Lewis series was really good. Jeremy got to the point where he was calling Nellie Mae my friend. Can't help it! I read these really fast.

I borrowed this one from Dad. Good book. I wish I had read this book shortly after college. I think it is definitely a good book for young women to read. I've had several friends experience miscarriages, and I thought the experiences the Smith's shared would really help us all know what we could do for our friends during difficult times.
I actually gave this one and the next one to my mother-in-law. She kindly has let me read them and I definitely enjoyed the one above and can relate to the one below, too!
2. Exercising - Just to be brief. I stink at this! I did have a gym membership for a couple of months, but I don't like to get up earlier than I have to. By the time I would get the kids to school in the morning and get to the gym I would have a whopping 20-30 minutes to work out before I needed to shower and get ready for work to be there on time. Yes, I. am. a quitter. There, I said it. :)

3. Cook more often. I am definitely cooking more (or about to!). Due to some training and changes going on I am going to be a one woman show some evenings. I appreciate the hospitality of some good friends which will make some evenings a lot easier for us. I even made homemade biscuits tonight with salmon patties. The kids didn't care for the biscuits too much (they were good, they were just a little odd-shaped. Hey, you do what you can with less than a cup of flour!), but they ate the entire plate of salmon up!

4. Housework. YUCK! I am doing really good with this, too. Can I give a shout out to some Tilex here? Ella Grace can still count the number of times she has seen me dust, but she is becoming more familiar with the process! ha!

5. More husband/wife time and girl time! Well, this may be postponed a bit, but I am looking forward to spending some time with my friends Laurie and Amber soon. Hopefully this weekend.
There's my update for now.

I hope I can continue doing well where I am already showing progress.

Maybe I set too many goals for one year!

New Years Resolutions

A little late, but I have been thinking of a few things I would like to begin doing or improve on this year. What about you? Maybe they are really goals, rather than resolutions, or hopes of things I would like to do...maybe at the end of the year I will decide what they are or were!
  1. Read more. I did start focusing on this a little over the Christmas break from work. I have already finished one book already! Yea! I would like to keep this up and read more - whether fiction, biographies (I do like to read about former Presidents) or Beth Moore books.
  2. Exercising. Again I have already started on this one. I have exercised twice already! Ha! Some girls at work have decided to start running together after work. Some are training for half- or full marathons, others of us are just beginning.
  3. Cook more. While I was in school Jeremy was the chef and kitchen clean-up crew almost entirely. He took on a lot of responsibilities. I want to take (some :) ) of those back and give him a break. I love to cook sweets, but if we are exercising, I think I need to just stick with dinner.
  4. Housework. Yes, while I was in school I really didn't do much around the house. Jeremy and I cleaned a lot while we were off work for the holidays and I want to maintain what we did and work on other areas, organizing, cleaning out, all of that FUN stuff that we all look forward to!
  5. More husband/wife time and girl time! We have found some great girls that love to spend time with our children. That helps so Jeremy and I can get out and maybe have an occassional date time this year. I would also like to spend some extra time with my family and girl friends this year, yet another thing that suffered while I was in school.

So, here are mine. What are your resolutions? Here are lots posted at Kelly's Korner.
