So, after our visit to Dr. B on Friday morning we were still left wondering what would happen to little Major's leg. Dr. B was unsure and felt that we needed to proceed with the ortho appointment. However, he was not fond of the doctor our appointment was with, so he had one of his nurses make an adjustment for us.
The ortho appointment was at 10:00, here in town. After a couple more x-rays, we knew he was getting a cast. Just to decide where to have it done - in town or at Children's. Children's had a waterproof option that we thought would be best for him (being small, in diapers, etc.). So, after a quick lunch at the mall with Dad, Mom, Lori & Ella Grace we were off again.
We checked in just after 2:00pm, met with several nurses and the on-call doctor...around 4:30 they gave him propofol. Major went from very upset, to very asleep in about 5-10 seconds. This just broke my hear to no end to see him laying there! Jeremy & I sat in the waiting room until they were finished, about 35 minutes. He was really upset until some of the medicine wore off and I finally was able to pick him up. But, what an adjustment! He was so heavy, and awkward to hold. He even had to have a new carseat to accommodate the cast.
Jeremy installed the carseat while I completed the discharge papers and we made it to the car at 7:00pm.
Our sweet friends from church (Frank, Amber and Gavin) brought over a wagon for Major to use that evening and brought him a couple of waterpaint books.
Major had not eaten much all day, and refused food when Nana offered some to him - until he saw there were deviled eggs! Oooh! That kid acted like he had been fasting for a week at that point! He followed that with some peanuts (aka pinto beans) and ham. Shortly after we were able to get him in bed with pillows under his legs.
I am so proud of my little guy, he is such a trooper. We have all had to make some adjustments, and say a lot of prayers, but we are certainly making it through!
Here are some pictures of the little guy!
