Our Five Year Old Boy!

This is over a month late. But, we were busy having fun so I'm not concerned. Just sayin'.

An excited young man woke up and put on his favorite shorts - camouflage! We let him open one gift before school and he was so happy!

Beginning to see what was inside...

he was ecstatic, I believe. Unfortunately, this shot completely covered that priceless face!

I was so lucky to be able to have lunch with him at school. Loved seeing him in his birthday hat.
Isn't it huge?!
One of the great things about their school is Mr. Walker. He is such a kind man that works at the school. Each day during lunch he looks for those birthday hats, leads the class of the birthday kid in a special rendition of "Happy Birthday" and lets the child choose a special pencil. They love it! So, here is Major having his "moment".

We had a busy evening. After I picked up the kids from school, I had to make good on a promise I made to Major over the summer. I took him to the library to get his very own library card. Again, happy boy!

We went home, I began to cook (notice me busy in the background of pictures below). Jeremy assisted passing gifts to Major and photographing.

Pop & Nana gave him the cool cowboy hat and walkie-talkies!
Grandaddy and Grandmother gave him a new razor scooter!
Great-Grandmother sent an awesome new game!
Daddy and Mommy gave Major a soccer ball (and pump).
And a new hat (and a couple shirts)!
Ella Grace gave him a Spiderman movie and Banana Pops.
Major didn't want a cake, so we went to Sweet Swirlz for fro-yo. Here's Dad attempting to put candles in a styrofoam cup - we were quick and didn't burn or melt anything!

Our friends, the Redmonds, happened to be there and participated in the song with us.

Then, we rushed off to school for a curriculum night.

Two days later, August 30, I took Major in for his five-year check-up. He had a great visit, and the doctor even threw in a flu shot for both kids. Lucky, I know!

Major was 41.75" and 38lbs.

Major,

You are such a sweet boy. I love your smile, your giggle, your concern for others. I love being told by other parents "My son/daughter says Major is one of the good boys." I always want you to be a friend, and value other people's feelings.

You are an athletic little guy. You are such a fast runner, and have loved playing soccer this fall. You love watching Alabama football with us, too.

With the appetite of a cow, you eat multiple items for breakfast and then sometimes I hear "I'm hungry!" as we leave for school. You sleep great, no lovies or bedtime habits left to outgrow.

I love being your mommy, watching you grow, see the special bond you have with your sister, hearing you pray with your heart. You are hilarious and can make me laugh like no other. I am so proud of you, Major, so proud.

I love you!
Mommy
