My Precious Baby Girl!
Where have the last six years gone? How did they pass us by and the time escape us so quickly?
I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. 1 Samuel 1:27
From the moment our eyes met, I knew you would be a sweet girl, precious to my heart in so many ways. I love your determination, the spunky spirit you possess. How you can be so demanding, and so easy-going in the same week. You have such a mothering spirit about you, too. Growing up, I was called a "mother hen" on many occasions. I hope you use it to benefit you and those around you - you are such an example and a leader and a teacher. Your brother adores you, Ella Grace. Even today as you and Daddy left to pick out cookies to share with your class, Major cried because he missed "my sister."
As I have read back over my wishes and thoughts around your past birthdays, I think you are right on track with achieving everything I could have imagined. I know God has more in store for you, in His perfect timing, we shall we what he has planned for you, a Child of God!
This year, you have said good-bye to sweet friends, moved states and got a new bedroom, you made lots of new friends at your new church, started kindergarten and made more friends, you read on your own, love to play games on my phone and computer, ride your bicycle like a crazy girl!, write and spell and do all kinds of fun things. And you are the best monkey-bar climber I have ever seen! You love to go on play-dates by yourself (so far you have been to Masyn's & Megan's), you loved our trip to SeaWorld this past weekend and have already planned to go back this coming weekend!. You never tire of going, doing and seeing! I think you will be a world traveler.
(Ella Grace 5th birthday, 4th birthday, and her third birthday posts 1 & 2)
I have told you over the last several days I will not carry you after you turn 6. Tonight, as I carried you to bed you cried, you said I would always carry you! I want to hold you in my arms forever, cradle you, rock you to sleep, hold you in my lap...unfortunately, though, you are just getting too big for your mamma!
Tonight I prepared a special birthday dinner for you, even let you pick out what we were having. Your choices - fried chicken, corn on the cob and fried okra. (Daddy did add baby lima beans and cornbread). The corn did a number on your already loose tooth. It could even come out on your birthday! How awesome would that be?You wiggled and Daddy wiggled up until bed time. As Daddy worked on it at supper you got a little upset, and I started crying - you just can't be big enough to lose your teeth. I was so proud and excited when those perfect white things came in! Your permanent tooth is already peeking up from below and one of your 6-year molars is making its way in, too.
Your birthday marks a couple of other important things - your first day back to school after Christmas break and the Alabama/LSU BCS game. You said weeks ago that your birthday wish is that Alabama wins. And for the cookies you picked out for school - sugar cookies with "A"s and elephants! You are one rockin' little girl!
From your hair that you typically prefer not to brush, to your awesome-sauce socks (which remind me of Aunt D!), I love everything about you, Gracie-Lou-Who! You mean the world to me.

And while your daddy and I did not get you the iPod you requested for your birthday, I hope it is super-special, nonetheless. We have lots of fun things to do this year and I want to do it all with you.
